"I've got a problem with my laptop running very slow!" This is a fairly common complaint from people on the internet and there are a few different things that might be making it run slower than usual.

One issue is you could have low-level disk corruption on your hard drive, which can cause some serious problems.

If this is the case, then there's not much you can do other than to back up all of your data and wipe the hard drive clean (assuming you still have Windows installed). Just format the drive and reinstall Windows if you don't have a recovery disk and you'll be fine.

Another issue is you could have a program or process running in the background that's causing issues. If this is the case, then all you need to do is close out of any programs that are running or set them to run at a lower priority, which we'll get into below.

There are probably a few programs running in the background that can be killing your speed. The first thing you should do is go into Task Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and clicking Task Manager.

From there, you can see each tab for each process that's running. You should close out anything that's not required, and also check through the "other" processes to see if any of them are consuming too much of your CPU or resources.

For example, one of the most common programs running in the background is Windows Update. This is fine when it's going smoothly and automatic, but if it's running at about 80% all day long then this might be causing problems for your computer.
